Cannabis
(Cannabis sativa) or also known as marijuana is cultivated plant that is often
misused. The leaves contain a compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which has a
psychoactive effect or may affect the nerves of the brain and psychiatric
conditions. Abused marijuana leaves using knives, dried and then burned and
smoked like tobacco leaves. The most characteristic effect when smoked cannabis
is euphoric or excited to giggle for no reason, and then followed by
hallucinations or seeing things that are not real.
Because
the effect is directly trigger changes in behavior, marijuana has always looked
more dangerous than short-term effects of smoking are almost non-existent
except for the coughing that are sensitive to the smell of smoke. Some even
consider cigarettes can actually improve concentration. But is it true that
tobacco is safer than cigarettes? Turns chronic lung damage has mostly
experienced by tobacco smokers compared to marijuana users.
Legality
of tobacco is one of the reasons, not because of the prohibition of tobacco
tend to make more frequent than smoked marijuana. A heavy smoker can smoke up
to 15 cigarettes / day while regular cannabis users even though it is almost
impossible to spend 5 linting / day.
However,
in relation to lung health, can not be concluded that marijuana is healthier
than cigarettes. Because in fact, almost no cannabis users who do not smoke
tobacco. Introduction to cannabis typically begins with a cigarette, so the
risk is even higher.
